A Week of L-O-V-E

Family. Home.

We decided to do something a bit different this year for Valentine’s Day.  Instead of making it just one day we decided to do something for an entire week.  We like to call it , “Our week of LOVE!”  I know it sounds cheesy but it’s a nice build up to the big day and it’s a playful little treat.  We will start the week out on Sunday prior to the day. To make it fair,  I have chosen the even days and Jeff will be the odds, then we both do somthing bigger on the actual day.  I know I’m excited to get this little adventure started, I just hope Jeff is too!

I promised that I would share some of my ideas for this year when I shared my Christmas present for Jeff as a V-Day present.  There seems to be such an influx of ideas this year that it is making hard to decide what to do.  No matter the idea, choose what you want and make it your own. I won’t divulge exactly what I am planning on doing for my handsome husband, but I know I will be borrowing some ideas.  Jeff edits all my posts so maybe he might get an idea as well. Wink, wink!

DIY Manly Valentine's Booze Bouquet

Love.

Valentine's Day is here!  I always make a point of making something special for my love. Last year I made this beauty which still hangs in our house, but with updated travel pins.  I wanted to share this diy present with you to inspire you.  Maybe if you have enough time you can make one for your special someone.

Jeff surprised me a few days ago with flowers sent to my school.  I know it was to show everyone what a loving husband he was, but he insisted that he sent them so I could enjoy them at work all week. They ended up coming home with me because of a looming snow storm, but ultimately they gave me a great idea for Jeff's present. He wouldn't appreciate flowers, but a booze bouquet is a welcome gift.

To make this many bouquet, you need a few items:
  • wooden dowels
  • nips, small bottles of alcohol of your choice
  • hot glue/ hot glue gun
  • washi tape
  • Valentines stickers
  • container
  • paper gift filler
  • small valentine's candy
First, I chose to spray paint my dowels with pink and red spray paint that was left over from other projects.  I tried to do an ombre effect, but only because I ran out of the red. This step was not necessary, but I had the time and the spray paint.

Next, I hot glued the small bottles of liquor to the dowels at different heights.  Three of the bottles were glass and were too heavy so they were placed at the bottom of the glass container.  The washi tape was a decorative extra to make sure the bottles stayed glued.  The stickers easily adhered to the dowels with a paper backing.

Finally, organize your booze/dowels and stickers inside the glass container and sprinkle the valentines candy in the paper filler.

I was super excited to surprise Jeff with this morning.  If it wasn't so cold, I would have left it by the front door and rang the bell.

Did you make anything special for that special someone this year?

Homemade V-Day Ideas

LOVE.

Valentine’s day, the day of commercial love is right around the corner.  This 'holiday' for some people is like any other day, but to those lovers at heart, it is a very special day. Personally, I think it is just another day to tell my special someone that I love and appreciate him, but I honestly try to do that as often as possible anyway.

Roses, chocolates, and champagne are always a nice gift but the prices of those items tend to break the bank. If one isn’t into spending big bucks on a present, I always vote for a really good card, maybe one made from candy conversation hearts.

Below are some of the thoughtful and inexpensive ideas that I have done in the past and a few I am going to try this year.

One. Oh The Places We Will Go- World Map.

If you and your loved one are the traveling type, this is the V-Day gift for you. This can be done in any size. Using a shadow box, an ordered printed map that fits the box, and different colored pins, you can make this as well.  I marked the places Jeff and I had been together with black pins and the white pin is where we live. Together, use a different color pin for the places you want to visit in the future, we used red. <3

Two. Conversation Heart Letter.
Conversation hearts have some a long way since being in elementary school.  I wouldn’t even bring these things in for my students to play with because some of the sayings are not appropriate for young children.

To make the card, simply choose the candy hearts that you want to include in your letter.  Then, plan out your letter incorporating the sayings. You can type up he letters onto card stock, then glue on the hearts. Sorry there isn't a picture, I wanted to keep my letter personal.

Three. TNT- You’re the bomb!

Chocolate Rolos, red paper, and some pipe cleaners. Nothing else to say.

Four. I love you this much!

Use red cardstock and a printer.  I will be using this as my card this year and write my message on the inside. Super cute and super thoughtful. I got this idea from A Day in My Life.

Five. Personalized Chocolate Kisses.

Hershey Kisses with personalized flags. I did this many years ago for Jeff and put them everywhere.  Jeff even found some of them in his luggage months later.  Now, that is what I call being romantic.

Type up messages for your Love.  I did, Reasons I love Jeff... and trust me, I had tons.  Print the messages really small, cut out, and taped individually onto each flag on the kiss.  Yes, it takes some time, but totally worth it.

Six. State Love.

Home is where the heart is.  I gave this to Jeff for Christmas this year.  I wish I could take the claim for this idea, but I found it on Pinterest.  See how to make this here.

No matter how you celebrate V-Day, make sure you let those people you love know why you love them.    I hope you might be able to use some of my ideas, but if these ideas aren’t up you alley, you can always do the ‘LOVE’ coupons.  LOL.
